Returns are estimates based on a fixed assumed return; actual mutual fund returns are market-linked and not guaranteed. Lumpsum value assumes the full amount is invested on day one and compounds annually at the same rate. Inflation-adjusted value divides the total by inflation over the same period, giving an approximate value in today’s money.

How to Read the Result

Start with the headline numbers, then look at the breakup: your own contribution versus the growth or interest on top of it. The chart makes the split obvious, and changing one input at a time shows you exactly which factor moves the result most.

How do SIP returns actually grow?

A SIP Calculator shows growth from two forces: your own monthly deposits, and compounding on everything already invested. Early on, deposits dominate the total, because there is little invested yet to compound. Later, returns take over, which is why the same monthly amount produces a much larger total over 15 or 20 years than over 5. The SIP Calculator donut chart makes this visible: one slice is what you put in, the other is what compounding added. With the default example of 5,000 rupees a month at 12 percent for 10 years, the SIP Calculator shows 6,00,000 rupees invested, 5,61,695 rupees in returns, and a total of 11,61,695 rupees.

Use the SIP Calculator to test trade-offs, not to predict exact outcomes. A higher monthly amount beats a higher assumed return in most realistic cases, because the amount is under your control while returns are not. The SIP Calculator also helps answer the common question of starting late: try the same amount over 10 years versus 20 years and compare the totals before deciding. Are SIP returns guaranteed?

No. A SIP Calculator assumes a steady return for illustration, but real market returns vary year to year. Treat the projection as a planning aid, not a promise, and review the plan when your income or goals change.
